Tips for shopping Patterned Tiles

Tips for shopping Patterned Tiles

Shopping for patterned tiles can be time-consuming especially because it can feel like you are spoilt for choice. Patterned tiles are available in a variety of shapes and patterns, in different materials and at different prices.

Today we are here to help you make the best decision for you.

Research Your Tiles

With so many options it’s important to find a patterned tile that you love, that is also suitable for the desired use. Do you like the Victorian patterned tile? Or is a brightly coloured patterned tile or is an elegant patterned tile more your bag? Whilst finding what you love, you’ll also discover what you don’t like which will help you make your decision. Pinterest can be great for exploring different options too, head to our Pinterest page for tile inspiration and ideas.

Order Tile Samples

We always recommend ordering a few samples of the tiles you like so you can try them in the room you are planning to put them. This will let you get a sense of how they will look in real life, in that lighting and help narrow down the choices. Find out more about our free patterned tile samples on our website.

Buy Spare Tiles

It’s always useful to have some spare tiles in case one breaks or your measurements are slightly out. This is useful if you are shopping on a budget as it saves money in the longer term as there is no need to reorder and pay another delivery fee. On our website we recommend ordering 7% more than you need, our website works this out for you so don’t worry about getting your calculator out! This is also useful if you are using a patterned tile that requires a specific laying pattern.

Choose Your Pattern Tiles

Choosing just a singular patterned tile and using it on both your walls and floor can create a big impact in your space. Often most customers like to pair a pattern with a plain tile, perhaps a pattern on the floor and plain on the walls, or vice versa. But which pattern tile do you choose? Our Moons Range is hugely popular and creates a fun and colourful feel in on-trend greens. If you fancy a Victorian grey patterned tile our Sirus, and Antares tiles are a great choice. And if you are looking for a contemporary look, you could go for geometric tiles like our Rewind Hexagon or Stripes Tiles. Or if you are looking for a splash of colour check out the Suns range. If you are having a hard time choosing consider the age and style of your property and choose one that complements it the best.

Choose a Colour Palette

Can’t decide on a patterned tile, start by choosing a colour palette. Tempting as it may be to include lots of colours it’s worth checking the tiles don’t clash. By choosing a colour palette e.g. white and black will ensure the tiles work together. Plus it helps narrow down your choices.

Complement Your Patterned Tile

If you want patterned tiles on one surface and are looking for a suitable tile to match then we have you covered. Many of our patterned tiles are also available in a coordinating plain tile for example our Harewood Tiles. Metro tiles complement patterned tiles well and are available in a wide range of colours so you can be sure to find one that matches the colours on your patterned tile. We love to see the combinations our customers create, the options are endless.

Repeating Patterns

Within our range we have repeating patterned tiles, that collectively, often in groups of 4, make a distinct pattern that can sometimes be set out in a number of laying patterns. Check out Canopus, this cement effect tile is our most versatile, providing over 10 different laying patterns.

Herringbone and other laying styles

If there are no patterned tiles that are taking your fancy, why not create your very own pattern? There is a whole range of patterns you can create using our classic metro tiles, from herringbone to ombre. The best thing about creating your pattern is that it will be unique and allow you to personalise your room.

Mosaic Patterned Tiles

Looking to pack a punch with your tiles? One way to add a pattern to your bathroom or kitchen is to use mosaic patterned tiles. They are perfect for adding drama to your walls and floors. Mosaic patterned tiles work well in smaller places where you can create an intricate design or in large spaces to make a stunning patterned feature wall. Another benefit of mosaic tiles is that they are easy to install making them an ideal DIY project. Check out our Ibiza mosaic range.

Installation

Installing your tiles is just as important as choosing your perfect tile. The fit and alignment are important for not only the look but also the function. An experienced tiler will bring your patterned tiles to life and ensure they last for years to come. If you want to self-install then we suggest practicing and checking. We are always here to lend a hand or give recommendations on tilers if you need to.

And if all that doesn’t help, our team are happy to assist in whichever way we can, inspiration, ideas and experience. Just get in touch to discuss your requirements.
