Tips For Installing Irregular Shaped Tiles

Tips For Installing Irregular Shaped Tiles

If you keep an eye on decor and interior trends then you probably know that geometric and irregular shaped tiles such as hexagon tiles are super popular. If you, like us, love the trend but are worried about how to install these tiles then keep reading as we are bringing you our top tips for installing irregular shaped tiles.

Firstly you’ll need to make sure that you have enough tiles. When calculating the number of tiles you’ll need, people are often thrown off by the irregular shape so its important to triple check. And if you are ever in doubt just give us a call.

When using irregular shaped tiles it is very important to dry lay as the different shapes mean that settling on a layout is more fiddly. Dry layout and experimenting with different placements will allow you to visualise the finished project before you permanently lay them.

Your first few tiles will determine the finished aesthetic. If you don’t use markers to get straight lines then you could end up with wonky tiles. So don’t make the error of using your eyes or even a fixed structure like a doorway or skirting board as they aren’t always straight.

Due to their shape, irregular shaped tiles can take longer to install than square or metro tiles. So our final top tip for installing irregular shaped tiles is to just be patient with yourself. They may require more time but there is no rush and a little persistence is bound to pay off.
