When the Kirby’s came to our Leeds Tile Showroom, they had been searching for something they were told was impossible to get! They had seen a picture of a polished marble tile online (which was sold overseas), they loved it and wanted to replicate the look in their bathroom but in a warmer shade. Everything they had been shown was too grey, pale, or stale and not the right finish. They wanted the appearance of luxurious polished marble but not in a traditional marble colour! Also, they were keen to create something a bit different using a feature wall but without using a mosaic tile.
The project was for their main bathroom, and it was important that it was functional and easy to maintain as well as being luxurious.
This is where we came in! We used their initial ideas as a starting point and pinpointed a series from one of our largest Italian suppliers Marazzi. We knew of a particular marble series had a rich bronze shade and thought would be perfect to meet their desired style vision. In addition, the marble tile we had in mind was also easy to maintain, and unlike the stone in the image they’d fallen in love with, it didn’t require any sealing or special cleaning requirements (as should be the case with all high-quality porcelain tiles).
Within this extensive range we narrowed it down to one tile, so we ordered some free samples so they could see the beauty and variation would be just as lovely as the marble. When the samples arrived they fell in love with this marble tile.
All that remained to be decided was the feature wall and for this, we suggested something a bit different. Instead of a mosaic, we could use a smaller size of the same marble tile they had chosen laid in a herringbone pattern. Without introducing another colour so the bathroom would appear larger and keep its impact which they were keen shouldn’t be lost. They loved this idea, so we also extended it to the floor for extra impact!
They were very happy with the scheme and layout and once we’d designed it all and calculated the area, they went ahead and placed their order with us. The fitting was completed by one of our recommended self-employed tilers and the Kirby’s are over the moon with the end result, to the extent they felt it surpassed their original expectations of the stone they had in mind. We as a company couldn’t be more pleased for them, to end this story on an even happier note they love the tiles so much they’ve used the same range in the guest bathroom too in a different colour!
