We had initially had the pleasure of helping Alan and Claire Williams with the design and choices for their beautiful bathrooms and kitchen, this then led onto an order they placed for their patio and garden. They wanted to take full advantage of their properties stunning views in summer and in winter!
For their bathroom tiles, they wanted something timeless and elegant and we immediately knew what to show them. The Statuario marble effect tile from Spain met their brief and they loved it.
Following that we then worked with Claire on the kitchen colours because they had found it difficult to find something that was light in colour but that wasn’t pure white for their main floor. They needed something which would compliment the mink kitchen units and the light quartz work surfaces. They agreed that they wanted a neutral stone effect to tie in with the overall scheme of the house, but they hadn’t found anything they loved!
Based on their description of what they felt they wanted, we had in mind a series which offered unusual stone effects as well as marble type options. We ordered various samples from this range supplied by Casalgrande, which we thought would work perfectly, and we had our eye on one we thought may be ideal to complement the mink units! When they arrived, Claire quickly narrowed it down because of the tiles warmth and the fact that it perfectly complimented the mink kitchen units.
Because this series has so many tile size options and finishes available within the colour range we were able to go with a large format size which we advised would make the room look bigger, and a semi polished finish to give a sophisticated look but modern edge. They were delighted with the end results which are truly stunning, and we couldn’t be happier for them.
With that sorted, we began on the outside of their home. Alan and Claire came back to consult us on what might be suitable for the large patio area at the back of their stunning home. They wanted a wood effect plank tile that would complement the beautiful stone work of their house in a 20mm depth porcelain as their fitter was keen on this due to its many advantageous properties.
We narrowed it down and ordered suitable anti slip 20mm samples from three of our large Italian factories. We thought these tiles would look stunning and be suitable to their requirements, whilst also working really well alongside the stone of the house without being too close a match so as not to obscure it! Once they arrived Claire and Alan took them home to check in different lights outside and against the stonework, and once again they had a favourite!
The tile supplied from the Italian tile factory Ragno was the tile of choice in the end. They can now enjoy their outside living space. It subtly contrasts with the stonework of the house and blends seamlessly with the natural landscape of Alan and Claires beautiful garden. This completed what has been an enjoyable and rewarding project. Claire and Alan are delighted and Tiles & Mosaics have felt privileged to work with them on.
